PM Imran Khan mulling over to change CM Punjab: reports

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan is considering to reshuffle the Provincial cabinet and to remove the Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar after a major reshuffling in the federal cabinet.

According to local private news channel report, Premier Imran Khan has summoned the progress report of the Punjab ministers from CM Buzdar and also sought performance report of the Punjab government from various departments.

The channel reported that changing of six provincial ministers portfolios is on the cards including, health, prisons, energy, labour, excise and food.

Former Punjab information minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan is expected to be re-inducted in the Punjab cabinet.

In this regard, Prime Minister Imran Khan has also summoned Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar for the consultation.

Earlier on Thursday, federal cabinet saw a major reshuffle with the resignation of Asad Umar as finance minister and appointment of noted economist Hafeez Shaikh as Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance.

Minister of State for Interior Shaheryar Afridi has been made Minister of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON).

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry was given the Science and Technology portfolio which had been without a minister since December last year after Azam Khan Swati’s resignation.

Ms Firdous Aashiq Awan is set to replace Fawad Chaudhry but as a Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting as she is not a parliamentarian.
