PM inaugurates Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi inaugurated 1410 MW Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project at Tarbela in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.

First unit of 470 MW was commissioned today, while two more units each with equal power generating capacity will be online before the advent of summer this year.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Prime Minister said the government has solved the issue of energy for the next ten years.

He said Tarbela 4 Extension Hydropower Project will greatly contribute to this effect. The project will provide low cost and environment friendly electricity to the masses. He said the country will be free of load shedding in future.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the PML-N Government has stabilized the country and put it on the path of development and prosperity.

He said the present government completed the developmental projects as per its manifesto. He said people elect those who deliver and the PML-N has always delivered on its promises.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said continuity of democracy will ensure continuity of the process of development.

He said China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a great vision of progress and prosperity and today several projects of the CPEC are near completion.

The Prime Minister said PML-N is united and inaugurating new developmental projects. He said political decisions are not made on roads, rather they are settled at polling stations. He said those who buy votes to become senators have no right to represent people.

Earlier, the Prime Minister was briefed that Tarbela 4th Extension Power Project has been completed at a cost of eighty-three point six billion rupees.

With this, the power generation of Tarbela Dam has reached to four thousand eight hundred and eighty eight megawatt.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb, President Azad Jammu Kashmir Masood Khan, and the Chinese Ambassador were also present on the occasion.
