MARDAN: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazal (Khyber Pakhtunkwha chapter) has made seat adjustment in one national and two provincial constituencies of Mardan district for the up-coming general elections of 2018.
In this regard, the provincial chiefs of PML-N and JUI-F Engineer Ameer Muqam Khan and Moulana Gul Naseeb along with their other parties leaders made the announcement regarding seat-adjustment at a press conference held here on Sunday in the residence of PMN-N provincial candidate Haji Khan Akbar Afridi.
On the occasion, provincial leadership of both the parties told media-persons that they had decided to make seat adjustment in NA-21 Mardan-II and PK-52 and PK-53 constituencies and support each other candidates for the next general elections-2018.
As per the agreement, they said the JUI-F candidates Moulana Amanat Shah Haqani of PK-52 and Qari Niyaz Ali of PK-51 would be withdrawn in favour of PML-N candidates Nawabzada Arsala Khan Hoti and Haji Khan Akbar Afridi respectively. Thus the activists of JUI-F would vote and support the PML-N candidates in the said constituencies.
Similarly, the PML-N workers would vote and support the JUI-F candidate Moulana Shuja-ul-Mulk in NA-21 Mardan-II constituency. It merits to mention here that the PML-N has already not awarded party ticket to any candidate to contest election in NA-21 Mardan-II. Later in the day, the JUI-F candidates Moulana Amanat Shah Haqani and Qari Niyaz Ali along their supports staged a protest demonstration in front of Mardan Press Club against their party’s decision of seat-adjustment with PML-N.
The protesters blocked road for some time and chanted slogans against the JUI-F provincial leadership. They termed the decision of seat adjustment with PML-N as unfair and injustice with the JUI-F candidates.
Speaking on the occasion, the annoyed JUI-F candidates said that they were unaware about the said decision as they their provincial leadership did not take them into confidence while making seat-adjustment with PML-N.
They blamed that the JUI-F provincial general secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkwha Moulana Shuja-ul-Mulk had taken money as bribe from PML-N candidates to withdraw them ( JUI-F candidates) in their favour.
They said that they would not accept decision of seat-adjustment in PK-52 and PK-53 would resist it at all forums.
They, however, announced on the occasion that they would not set in favour of PML-N candidates and would contest polls against their rivals at any cost.
With the decision of seat-adjustment by JUI-F provincial leadership without taking the its relevant candidates into confidence, had brought dramatic changes as well as interesting situation in the said constituencies.
