PML-N urges President Alvi to resolve NA session gracefully

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: PML-N leader and former finance minister Senator Ishaq Dar has urged President Arif Alvi to “gracefully resolve the issue” concerning convening of National Assembly session.

Talking to journalists outside the Parliament House in Islamabad on Tuesday, Ishaq Dar said the Constitution is clear on summoning of the National Assembly session following the general elections. “If the president wants to once again violate the Constitution, then it would mean that he does not want the House to convene,” he added.

Ishaq Dar said the president could have summoned the National Assembly on any day before Feb 29, the last day to call the lower house of the Parliament as per the law, but he delayed the process.

The PML-N leader maintained “I believe that the game being played with the Constitution is not a good tradition, the matter should have been handled gracefully.”

He reiterated that the Constitution was clear about convening of the National Assembly session.
