KARACHI: The police has added terrorism clause in Jamshed Quarters fire incident that claimed the lives of two children and their mother.
Police produced three accused of the case before the court today.
The court granted four days’ physical remand of key accused Junaid, brother Nadir and Nasreen.
Police officials earlier said that the March 22 incident at a house in Bijli Nagar, was an arson attack committed by the head of family Junaid.
The victims were identified as 35-year-old Shumaila, wife of Junaid, her 11-year-old son, Sufiyan, and five-year-old daughter, Hunaiza.
The police had earlier arrested accused Junaid who was staying at a hotel after returning from Malaysia before the fire incident.
Police told the court that the accused had bought petrol from a petrol pump and the employees of the petrol pump have identified the accused.
He said the incident took place on the day when the accused was absent from the hotel.
The police earlier told the court that accused had secretly return to Pakistan and contacted with his wife on March 22 night. He asked his wife Shumaila to keep his return secret and promised her that he will take her and children to Malaysia without anyone come to know about it, police said.
According to police, Junaid entered in house from the back entrance. He entered the room where his wife was sleeping with children, poured petrol in the room, ignited fire and fled from the scene, police said.
The accused told the police, he had return to Pakistan after the incident, while the investigation suggested that he had return on March 16 and was in Pakistan prior to the deadly fire incident took place.
