Police arrest 5 suspects and recovered liquor

BAHAWALPUR (APP): The district police have arrested five drug pushers from different areas of the district and recovered 135 liters liquor from their possession.
A spokesman for Bahawalpur police said here that acting on a tip-off, the police teams of police stations including PS Chani Goth, PS Anaityi and PS Hasilpur conducted raids at dens lying within their jurisdiction and took five drug peddlers into custody.
The police recovered 135 liters liquor from the possession of the accused.
The police have registered separate cases against the accused.
Health Screening Camp set up at Bahawalpur Police Lines
On the directions of the Inspector General Police, Punjab, a health screening camp has been established at the Police Lines in Bahawalpur.
According to a spokesman for Bahawalpur police, IGP Punjab had directed to establish health screening camps at police lines across the province to conduct blood screening of the police officials and personnel.
“Following the directives of IGP Punjab, a health screening camp had been established at Bahawalpur Police Lines under the supervision of District Police Officer, Bahawalpur, Syed Muhammad Abbas,” he said.
He further said that blood screening tests of the police officials would be conducted at the health screening camp that would be included CBC, LFT, RFT, Uric Acid, Sugar Fasting, HBA1C, Hepatitis ABC, Lipid Profile, HIV and others.
Man injured in firing in Bahawalpur
Unidentified armed men opened fire at a person, leaving him critically injured in Tahli Mahala area lying within the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station.
The police sources said that armed men opened indiscriminate firing at a man recognized as Ansari in Tahli Mahala area, leaving him wounded.
The assailants managed to escape from the scene.
The rescuers of Punjab Emergency Service Department and the police rushed to the scene.
The injured was transported to Bahawal Victoria Hospital where he was given emergency medical aid.
According to doctors, the injured received a bullet in his kidney and a few other bullets in the lower parts of the body. However, his condition was told to be out of danger.
Kotwali police have registered a case against the accused.
According to the preliminary investigation, old enmity was the cause behind the attack.
Drug smuggler arrested in Bahawalpur
The district police have arrested a drug smuggler and recovered over two kilograms hashish from his possession in Ahmadpur East area.
The police sources said that Ahmadpur East police received information that a drug smuggler had been smuggling huge quantity of hashish.
“Following the tip-off, a police team of PS Ahmadpur East conducted a raid and arrested the suspect red-handed,” they said, adding that the police recovered over two kilograms hashish from the possession of the accused. The drug smuggler was identified as Arsalan.
The police have registered a case against the suspect under Anti-Narcotics Act and launched an investigation into the case.
