Police arrest members of car lifters gang in Swabi

SWABI: A gang of car-lifters operating between Mardan and Swabi districts have been busted by district police and the latest snatched vehicles were recovered on their pinpointing from a secret location on Thursday, said district police officer, Sohail Khalid.

He said that all the arrested car-lifters belong to Mardan district but their links with different people in the district have yet to be unearthed by police through the extensive investigations which have been continued. DPO Khalid said that a few days before Bakat Sair, a resident of Naranji and driver of tractor-trolley had registered an FIR in Parmuli police station, alleging that three car-lifters who covered their faces had snatched from them tractor-trolley at gun-point when he was on way to home from fields.

Similarly, another driver of Yar Hussain village have registered an FIR in Yar Hussain police stations, saying that tractor-trolley were snatched from him near Jagnat Bridge by three people at gun-point, threatening him to kill him if he resisted.

The police, he said, have continued a team to trace the car-lifters and finally succeeded to arrest the four car-lifters who confessed their involved and pinpointed the area where the two snatched vehicles were hidden. “The police are much interested in knowing the people with whom they were links in the district,” said Shah Mumtaz Khan, DSP Tehsil Razaar. They were identified as Qasim Ali and his brother Ghaus Ali, Kashif Khan and Shahab Ali. All they hail from different parts of district Mardan.
