ISTANBUL: Turkish Police arrested at least 283 suspected Islamic State militants in Turkey in the last 11 days.
A security official told local Turkish media that police started crackdown against the IS militants in different parts of the country and arrested 283 IS militants in an anti-IS operations conducted in 25 provinces across Turkey.
Official added that 96 were Turkish citizens and 187 were foreign nationals among the arrested persons and adding that police also recovered 66 improvised explosive devices (IED) from the arrested persons.
The terrorists group was blamed for several deadly attacks in Turkey in which more than 300 people since 2015.
Turkey also initiated a military operation in northern Syria in August 2016 with the aim to clear a border zone of IS members after a deadly suicide attack targeted a wedding party.
