Police claims to arrest score of suspects in actions

LAKKI MARWAT: Police on Wednesday claimed to have captured score of criminals and suspects and seized illegal weapons and contraband from them during surprise actions in parts of the district.

“Following the directives of District Police Officer Abdul Ruaf Baber Qaisrani policemen also launched a grand cleanup operation in several parts of the district last month and captured score of wanted men”, maintained the official, adding that 114 proclaimed offenders and 738 suspected were held during the month long operation.

He said that the arrested outlaws were wanted by police in murder, attempted murder, robbery, kidnapping and other cases while the suspected were shifted to different police stations for initial interrogation and identification purpose. He said that policemen also checked record of around 1200 people through criminal record verification software (CRVS) and registered 29 cases against power thieves and loan sharks under relevant section of law in concerned police stations.

“The cops also checked 743 rented houses for tenants’ verification, 839 educational institutions for security arrangements, 33 hotels, 30 vehicle stands and 930 important places across the district under the guidelines of national action plan (NAP)”, maintained the official, saying that the seizure items include 21 Kalashnikovs, 3 Kalakovs, 10 rifles, 25 shotguns, 79 pistols, 1776 bullets, over 12 kg hashish, 5867 gram heroin, f bottles of wine and a small quantity of ice drug.

Separately, a party of SeraiGambila police station raided a hideout in BachkanAhmadzai village and arrested a proclaimed offender Kamal resident of Tajori there”, claimed an official. He said that the arrested man was wanted by police in woman kidnapping case since 2015 and an assault rifle with bullets was also seized from him.

He said that another police party of ShaheedAsmatullah Khan Khattak police station arrested an Afghan nation and recovered an assault rifle and bullets from him during a search operation in Afghan refugee camp located in Gandi area near Naurang town.
