Police conduct search operation, arrest 55

TIMERGARA: The Lower Dir police arrested 55 suspected accused and recovered arms and contrabands during a search and strike operation conducted in different areas of the district here on Tuesday.

Talking to local journalists at Timergara the circle deputy superintendent of police Sher Wali Khan said that following the directives of high ups the Lower Dir police conducted search and strike operation in different parts of the district. He said that 55 suspected outlaws besides three proclaimed offenders were arrested during the operation. The DSP said that arms and contrabands were also recovered from the accused. He said police officers had been directed strictly to crackdown against the drug abusers and sellers.

Meanwhile, a police inspector Ikramullah at the ditrict police officer’s office told local journalists that during the last two weeks a total of 17 Pos and 412 suspects wanted to police in various crimes had been arrested. He said that during raids 5 rifles, 14 pistols and 30 chargers were recovered from the accused.

Road accident: An 8th grader identified as Numan Khan was killed while three other children were injured when a vehicle they were travelling in to school plunged into a deep ravine near Khall here on Tuesday, residents and police said. They said the vehicle went out of the driver’s control near Khall and plunged into a deep ravine. As a result a 13 years old Numan Khan was killed on the spot while his brother Kamran, 12 along with two other children were injured.

The injured were taken to the DHQ hospital Timergara from where one of the injured, Kamran was referred to Peshawar due to his critical condition. The other two children were discharged from the hospital after their first aid, hospital sources said. The Khall police registered a case and started investigation.

Meanwhile a man identified as Amir Muhammad s/o Rasool Muhammad was killed when a heap of mud caved in burying him alive at Osakai area in the jurisdiction of Ouch police station on Tuesday, residents said. They said the man was collecting mud when a heap suddenly caved in and trapped him. The man was killed on the spot. The locals rushed to the site and retrieved the body.
