Police doctrine and rising crimes

Written by The Frontier Post

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the law enforcement Agencies to launch a targeted operation against repeat offenders, drug dealers and land-grabbers, those had been identified through an extensive exercise apart from carrying out intelligence based combing operations against anti-state elements to curb the terrorist incidents in the city. Syed Murad Ali Shah was presiding over the 247th meeting of the provincial Apex Committee. The Apex Committee condemned the killing of three Chinese teachers at Karachi University and vowed to bring the culprit to book through coordinated, comprehensive, and intelligence-based operation. As said, different parties have been constituted by the LEAs to unearth the mastermind of the terrorist attack at Karachi University. The Chief Minister, in consultation with the all agencies, including intelligence Community decided to further strengthen intelligence network and worked out its sharing mechanism so that timely operation could be conducted against the terrorists.

The law and order situation in the megacity had deteriorated significantly in the recent months due to several terrorist attacks and extraordinary increase in street crimes across the city. Police and other LEAs failed to control the situation while criminals and terrorists continue their activities in the presence of Police, Rangers and multiple Intelligence Agencies in the city.

After unending incidents of street crimes, and recurrent terrorist incidents, the Chief Minister has convened the meeting of the apex committee to discuss the situation, while shrewd Bureaucrats tactfully escaped the political pressure while narrating the story of extensive Police exercise and surfacing of repeater criminals operating in the city, which is nothing else than the list of fourth scheduled criminals. However, the Bureaucracy not only escaped accountability for its failure in providing foolproof security to Chinese nationals but also got Shabash from the Chief Minister on narrating a plausible story. In fact, most Police Officers intend to survive their stay in the service of the government and politicians instead of maintaining law and order in the cities, therefore criminals are enjoying freedom while Bureaucracy is happy on the success of its description.
