PESHAWAR: The Capital City Police have arrested 29 suspects allegedly involved in street crimes during search operations conducted in different areas of provincial capital.
Talking to media men on Monday at Malik Saad Police lines about the performance of Capital police, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Zahoor Babar Afridi said that on the special directives of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Qazi Jamil-ur-Rehman, police force carried out effective actions against anti-social elements in which all divisional SP’s, SDPO’s and SHO’s participated.
SSP operations added that 29 suspects involved in various crimes were arrested and recovered stolen motor cars, motorbikes, cell phones, cycles, rickshaw and cash from their possessions.
Zahoor Babar further said that seven shopkeepers were also arrested from Hashnaghri, Saddar, Kabari Bazaar and others mobile markets who buys stolen mobile phones from snatchers in a low amount.
The shopkeepers revealed the smuggling of mobile phones to neighbor country Afghanistan, Babar added.
Similarly, Pahripura police held a suspect identified as Sami Ullah who looted various houses in different areas of city.
Moreover, Agha Mir Jani police detained a gang of three member’s mobile snatchers namely, Usman son of Sher Zaman, Shahsawar son of Sher Afzal and Zabi Ullah son of Qadeem. The arrested suspected were also wanted to Kotwali, Bhanamari and other police in snatching cases.
Police also seized three stolen motor cars, eight motorbikes, 44 cell phones, six cycles, one rickshaw and cash from their possessions and registered First Information Reports (FIRs) against the arrested supects.
