An official of the Lakki Marwat Police Station told newsmen that the incident took place late night when ASI Jamshed Iqbal, who was the in-charge of Chowki Shehbaz Khel, was on routine patrol on the Indus Highway.
The official said the patrol party was attacked by some unidentified assailants who opened fire on them. As a consequence of the firing, Jamshed Iqbal embraced martyrdom on the spot while Constable Inam Ullah got injured and was later rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The attackers, somehow, managed to escape after the incident.
“The police launched a search operation in the area soon after the incident but there was no confirmation of any arrest so far,” said the police official.
