Police probes distribution of Daesh night letters

Monitoring Desk

KABUL: The Kabul police have said they are conducting investigations into the distribution of night letters by Daesh or Islamic State-Khorasan (IS-Khorasan) in the Bagrami district of Kabul province.

Baseer Mujahid, spokesman of Kabul police headquarters, told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) that police launched probe soon after receiving reports of the distribution of night letters by IS-Khorasan in some areas of Kabul’s Bagrami district the other night.

According to preliminary information, it appeared Daesh was not involved in the distribution of night rather some other elements did it in the name of Daesh to intimidate the people, he said.

He said the police were still following the issue seriously and the masses did not need to worry.

Daesh letters and black banners were painted on the building of some schools and houses in the Bagram district of Kabul province the other night spreading fear among the people of the district.

The night letters urged the people to support Daesh.

Some analysts expressed concern that the increasing Daesh operations in the southern outskirts of the Afghan capital of Kabul may also increase Daesh activities in the Kabul City.

The Daesh or Islamic State conducted some bloodiest attacks in Kabul.

Gunmen behead policeman: Taliban gunmen allegedly beheaded a policeman in the Muhammad Agha district of Logar province, officials said Wednesday.

The Taliban seized the cop, Azizullah, after he left a security post in the Kotki area of Muhammad Agha district yesterday’s afternoon and killed him, Salim Saleh, spokesman of Logar governor.

He said the gunmen beheaded the cop after killing him. There was no claim of responsibility.
