Police promotion case:PHC directs IGP to submit reply till 22nd

F.P. Report

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) comprising of Justice Musrt Hilali and Justice Abdul Shakoor directed Inspector General of Police (IGP), Deputy Inspector General and Secretary Home Affair Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to submit reply regarding promotion of police officers till 22nd September, on Tuesday.

The counsel argued that petitioners were ignored by Provincial Promotion Board (PPB) held on 19th August 2022 while promoted junior officers on nepotism; therefore PHC doors had knocked to obtain remedy and added that names of five Superintendents of Police (SPs) were excluded from promotion list.

The counsel argued that PPB meeting chaired by IGP was called to promote senior officers but the board has recommended name of officers on nepotism because five SPs were excluded standing at 5th, 16th, 17th, 33rd while one stand at 1st position at telecommunication on seniority list.

PPB informed that five officers were excluded on ground of Sindh High Court judgment because they were inducted as out of province category which will violate court’s order.

The writ stated that out of province induction is made ground for petitioners’ officers to promote their favorable officers to next step and added that SHC judgment did not imply on the petitioners because it was granted against officers working on deputation at police department.

The writ further added that list has extended from 41 to 61 to promote officers on nepotism while directed IGP, DIG and Secretary Home Affair to submit comments before 22nd September.
