Police rendered remarkable sacrifices for restoration of Peace in KP: IGP Mehsud

LAKKI MARWAT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Salahud Din Mehsud has said that police force exhibited remarkable gallantry in fighting terrorism during the last ten years and rooted out the penance from the province at the cost of sacrifices of lives by around 1500 officers and cops.

This he said while speaking at the gathering of elders from Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts in police lines Bannu on Thursday.

Regional Police Officer Dar Ali Khattak also spoke on the occasion.

Lakki Marwat DPO Syed Khalid Hamdani, Bannu DPO Sadiq Baloch and other police officers were in the attendance.

The provincial police officer said that police arrested over 1200 terrorists in last two and half years and destroyed their safe havens.

“Now the terrorists have no sanctuary or hideout anywhere in the province besides the terrorism related incidents have been reduced to 80 percent”, he maintained.

He said that the services and sacrifices rendered by KP police in fight against terror had been acknowledged and appreciated internally.

“We have eliminated the hideouts of terrorists on our own soil but we cannot ignore external threats”, he added, saying that special focus has been diverted on cops training to enhance their capacity and capabilities and that police are determined and fully prepared to cope with any eventuality or terror threats in the coming days.

He said that police officers had been directed to keep doors of their offices open for general public and address their genuine grievances.

He said that policemen were the servant s of people and not master and they should spare themselves for people’s service.

“Now people have an easy access to regional and district police officers and they can lodge complaints with them for prompt redressal”, he added.

Mehsud said that over seven thousand policemen including officers had been punished for wrongdoings during the last over two and half years.
