KABUL: The Afghan National Police repulsed a Taliban attack against a security check post in western Farah province.

According to the local security officials, the Afghan National Police repulsed a Taliban attack on a checkpoint in Pur Chaman district early Sunday morning killing several Taliban fighters and their commander, Mullah Noor Ahmad.

“Armed insurgents attempted to attack check posts in Nawbara village and were repulsed by the brave ANP forces and the enemy fled from the area after sustaining casulties,” spokesman for the Farah Police Headquarters.

“Afghan security forces around the country are working hard to ensure security of the bases so they can provide security for the people of Afghanistan,” the officials added. The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the report so far.

The security situation in western Farah province has started to deteriorate sharply during the recent yeas as the anti-government armed elements including Taliban are continuously attempting to stage attacks against the government and security institutions in this province. (Khaama Press)
