ISLAMABAD: The Capital administration and police on Friday has banned Lal Masjid from holding Friday prayers on its premises following the mosque administration’s violation of the restrictions during the Friday prayers due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
The government took notice of congregational prayers taking place as per routine and ordered the police to make arrests. Hafiz Ehtisham, the caretaker of the mosque has reported that police surrounded the mosque yesterday and since Thursday, arrests are being made.
It’s pertained to mentioned here that following the announcement of strict regulations of a nationwide lockdown, the firebrand cleric Abdul Aziz continued leading prayers for the last three weeks, at the Laal Masjid, unlawfully. He said, “We will not listen to any regulations that go against the Shariah“.
Police on Friday amid of prayer cordoned off the area and didn’t allow any individual from outside to enter the mosque to offer Friday prayer inside a police official told Frontier Post.
Mualana Aziz told The Frontier Post that I opposed those Ulemas who signed agreement with state because no single point was added from Islamic Sharia that’s why I oppose the 20 points agenda. He mentioned that the only solution to combat this deadly virus to contact Allah and pray inside mosque.
