Polio monitoring officer shot dead in Mohmand

F.P. Report

GHALANAI: A member of polio monitoring team was shot dead on Monday by a resident after he was reported to the administration by the deceased polio monitoring officer for refusing to give oral polio drops to his children in the previous campaign in Kamalya Ghazi Bag area of Mohmand district.

Distict administration informed that both accused and deceased belonged to the same area bordering Afghanistan.

Today when the polio monitors were in the area for administering oral polio drops in the catch up campaign the accused Zubair Ali exchanged harsh words with polio monitor Wajid Ali for reporting his name to the higher authorities in refusal cases.

Since the government has decided to give jail punishment to the parents refusing to administration polio drops to their children, which infuriated the accused and today when they came face to face, the matter took an ugly turn in the death of polio monitor.
