PPL supports healthcare initiatives in Sindh, Punjab

KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme, provided financial support to the tune of Rs. 8.245 million for provision of quality healthcare for disadvantaged communities residing around its operated Kandhkot and Adhi fields in Sindh and Punjab, respectively.

Actg Chief Community Development Kamran Sher presented the cheque for Rs 6.5 million to President Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital (ASTEH) (Retd.) Major General Rehmat Khan on February 7 in Rawalpindi for purchasing a phacoemulsification machine ?a state-of-the-art ophthalmic surgical equipment? for ASTEH, Sukkur. Similar equipment was earlier provided to ASTEH for its Rawalpindi hospital.

PPL and implementing partner ASTEH have been organizing bi-annual free-of-cost surgical eye camps for local communities around the company’s producing fields. The PPL-donated machines have not only enabled ASTEH to carry out painless and risk-free cataract surgeries during these camps but also reach underserved communities at ASTEH-operated hospitals in Sukkur and Rawalpindi.

Earlier, Manager Adhi Field ShaheenParwezAkhtar handed over a cheque for Rs 1.745 million to Assistant Commissioner, Gujar Khan HiraRizwan on February 6 for rehabilitation of Basic Health Units at the tehsil’s Sukho and Dhong villages in District Rawalpindi. Member Punjab Assembly ChaudhrySajidMahmood was also present on the occasion.
