PPP, PMLN to appoint Aftab Sultan as Chairman NAB

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) have joined hands to appoint chief of Intelligence Bureau (IB), Aftab Sultan as new Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Online learnt from reliable sources.

Sources added that both parties willing to appoint Sultan on the seat recently holding by Chaudhry Qamar Zaman as Sultan visited London few days before and met with Nawaz Sharif. During the meeting, Sultan briefed Nawaz about activities of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and different contacts of Muslim League’s Members of National Assembly (MNAs).

Deposed Prime Minister (PM) has given green signal in this regard to keep NAB in the hands while PPP and PMLN are in close coordination for this arrangement. PPP and PMLN trying to appoint Aftab Sultan before PTI and Muttahidda Qoumi Movement (MQM) take the slot of opposition leader of National Assembly from PPP by nominating a candidate instead of Syed Khurshid Shah.

Sources added that PMLN wants to clear its own ways against the cases in accountability courts by appointing IB chief as supremo of NAB, on the other side, PTI has also contacted to Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PMLQ) to dash the hopes of PMLN on ground.

PTI and government are at logger’s head over two seats as government wants to keep Khurshid Shah as opposition leader so that it can appoint Chairman NAB according to its own wish while PTI wants to change opposition leader so that a transparent Chairman of NAB could be appointed.

Sources said that Aftab Sultan is considered to be a close aide of Sharif family as Sultan and Nawaz discussed the payment of fee to American lobbying firm also.
