PPP should hold protests against its own corruption, slams Fawad

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry, on Thursday asked Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders to clarify the direction of their threats to organise protests if the political party claims to respect the judiciary.

While responding to threats of Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the information minister said that it would be better for People’s Party to hold protests against its own corruption.

He criticised, “Addicts of corruption always resist whenever their treatment starts.”

Chaudhry said that PPP has the same connection with Bhutto like Nawaz-league has it with Quaid-e-Azam’s Muslim League. He asked PPP to end selling names of Bhutto and Benazir for their political motives.

The information minister clarified that their threats and cries would not save them from facing accountability.

Chaudhry said that the PPP top leaders were running away for being accountable over their corrupt practices by using the name of Bhutto.

While pointing Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari without naming him, he said the “Abu Bachao” march, which was named as “Karwan-e-Bhutto”, had already failed due to lack of response by the nationals. Ideological and true followers of Bhutto have rejected to accept corruption, he added.

Earlier in the day, Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari have threatened to topple the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led government during their addresses in a public gathering organised in Garhi Khuda Bukhsh in connection with the 40th death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
