PPP to send legal notice to Imran Khan over allegations against Zardari

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party has unveiled plan to send a legal notice to PTI Chairman Imran Khan for levelling baseless allegations against top PPP leaders.

Addressing a joint news conference at PPP Central Secretariat in Islamabad on Saturday, senior PPP leaders Nayyar Bukhari, Farhatullah Babar and Qamar Zaman Kaira blasts the PTI chairman over the accusations, saying Imran Khan had lost its mind.

The PPP leaders maintained that the PTI chairman had made such bizarre claims just to keep himself relevant in politics, saying this time the allegations would not go unanswered.

They said they will send a legal notice to the PTI leader asking him to withdraw his statement.

In a statement on Friday, Imran Khan had claimed that PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari was behind a new plot to assassinate him for which the former president had given money to a terrorist group. He further said the plot was knitted to target him as soon as he was ousted from power.

Talking to newsmen today, Nayyar Bukhari said “We will send a legal notice demanding Imran Khan to retract his accusations. If he doesn’t, then the PPP has the right to approach the courts for civil and criminal proceedings.” He said the allegations made by Imran were baseless and lies.

Bukhari declared that Imran Khan has “politically died” and was suffering from depression and panic. “The PTI leader keeps on blaming institutions others for his failures; he has raised his fingers at establishment, the Election Commission [of Pakistan] or the former army chief,” he added.

Qamar Zaman Kaira said Imran Khan should provide evidence for his allegations against the former president, adding he should be punished if he failed to provide evidence. “We will use our legal right,” he said, adding Imran Khan was a fascist and not a democratic person. He said the PTI chief was shifting the blame of his failures on others.

Kaira and other leaders also urged the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take notice of the allegations levelled against the former president.

Farhatullah Babar said Imran Khan should make self-introspection before raising fingers on others. The PTI chief, he said, had mocked himself by making allegations against Asif Zardari.

Babar remarked “Imran Khan is himself Taliban Khan and mentor of extremists.”
