President Alvi proves himself to be PTI secretary general, says Sherry Rehman

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Climate Change and PPP Vice President Sherry Rehman has said that by returning the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill, 2023 for reconsideration to the Parliament, President Arif Alvi has proved himself to be the secretary general of the PTI, rather than to be the President of Pakistan.

Giving her reaction over returning of the bill unsigned by the President, the climate change minister tweeted on Saturday: “President Arif Alvi has returned the Supreme Court bill for reconsideration to the parliament and proved that he is not the President of the country but he is still the Secretary General of Tehreek-e-Insaf. He has seen every decision of the Parliament from Tehreek-e-Insaf’s point of view. Even before receiving the bill, he had made clear his position on the bill during an interview.

“He is following his party’s policy, in disregard of his constitutional position as President of the country. The President is saying that this bill travels beyond the competence of the Parliament. For three and a half years, he has been running the President House like an ordinance factory. Mr President, do not teach the Parliament how to legislate.”
