President appreciates Turkmen efforts for enhancing connectivity

ISLAMABAD: The President of Turkmenistan H.E. Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a telephone call to the honorable President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Mamnoon Hussain, on 23rd December, 2017. The Turkmen President conveyed New Year greetings and expressed his gratitude to President Mamnoon Hussain for witnessing the inaugural ceremony of the V-Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games held in September 2017, in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

The President of Pakistan thanked the Turkmen President for the warm message of felicitations on the occasion of New Year and conveyed New Year greetings to the Turkmen President, as well as, the people of Turkmenistan. President Mamnoon Hussain also conveyed his best wishes for the ‘Neutrality Day’ of Turkmenistan, which was celebrated on 12 December, 2017.Both Presidents expressed satisfaction at the current level of bilateral relationship between the two countries. They agreed that both sides needed to make efforts to further enhance the economic relations through joint ventures in Agriculture, Textile, Livestock and IT sectors.

The leaders acknowledged the importance of early implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India Gas Pipeline Project.

The Turkmen President informed that Turkmenistan has completed the rail network up till the border of Afghanistan and expressed his desire to extend it to Pakistan. The President of Pakistan appreciated and welcomed the Turkmen efforts aimed at enhancing connectivity between both the countries and the region.

The Turkmen President invited Pakistan to witness the ground breaking ceremony for the Afghanistan section of the TAPI gas pipeline project scheduled to be held in February 2018 at Turkmenistan-Afghanistan border.

Furthermore Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a message of greetings and best wishes to President Mamnoon Hussain on his birthday.

These wishes were conveyed by Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing, a press release Saturday said.

The Chinese president in his message said Pakistan and China were reliable friends and strategic partners who stood together in trying times.

He noted that cooperation between the two countries was increasing rapidly in all sectors which was commendable.

President Mamnoon Hussain thanked his Chinese counterpart and said the two countries would continue to cooperate with each other for the prosperity of the people.

He underscored that Pak-China friendship was an example for the world.

In his message, the Chinese president further said he had great expectations from Pak-China friendship and wanted to work together for development and progress of both countries, so that the everlasting relations between the two countries could continue to grow.
