Priyanka Chopra leaving Bollywood for Hollywood

LOS ANGELES: Priyanka Chopra is one of the popular names in the Bollywood film industry but a few years ago she shifted to America and started her acting career in Hollywood films. Recently she opened up about her decision of leaving Bollywood.

She said that some people in Bollywood made it difficult for her to work in the Hindi film industry as there was a lot of politics due to which she was not comfortable working there.

During the interview with Dax Shepherd on his podcast ‘Armchair Expert’, the ‘Citadel’ actress said, “I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break.”

She also revealed that people forced her to eat meat.She further said that she wanted to escape from Bollywood and during that situation she was offered the music industry in the US.

It was Anjula Acharia of ‘Desi Hits’ who saw her in a music video and asked her if she would be interested in a music career in the United States. Priyanka immediately jumped at the offer.

He further said ‘This music video introduced me to a new world, by that time I had worked in a lot of films, so I had no desire to work in more films, I only wanted such people at that time to whom I can talk.”

She told that the music video did not work but it opened other doors for her in Hollywood films. First Quantico then Baywatch, Matrix, one after the other she started getting work.

Actress Kangana Ranaut has spoken in support of Priyanka Chopra after her stance on leaving Bollywood.

Kangana took to her Twitter and wrote, “This is what @priyankachopra has to say about Bollywood, people ganged up on her, bullied her and chased her out of film industry a self-made woman was made to leave India. Everyone knows Karan Johar had banned her.”

On the work front, Chopra will now be seen in Russo Brothers show ‘Citadel’ and the Hollywood film ‘Love Again’.
