Promotion of merged policemen: PHC forwards case to PSB for redressal

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has forwarded promotions policemen to rank of Superintendent of Police (SPs) merged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police to Provincial Selection Board (PSB) along with 10 questions and ordered to immediately dispose-off the matter, on Friday.

PHC’s divisional comprised of Justice Musrt Hilali and Justice Shakeel Ahmad hearing writ petition of Salim Aman Ullah, Sher Wazir along with others while Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Secretary Home, Secretary Establishment, Inspector General of Police (IGP), PSB and others were made respondents.

The counsel Bilal Ahmad Kakakzai Advocate informed that petitioners were transferred from other provinces while merged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police and promoted several times. The petitioners are now serving as DSPs and didn’t promoting to SP rank while grounding Supreme Court Judgement while the SC’s decision didn’t applicable on the applicants, the counsel argued.

The petitioners are due for promotion to SPs rank and their working papers were placed before PSB but it was rejected by the board, Bilal Advocate argued. PHC has forwarded the cases with 10 questions to PSB including that Is the petitioners appointed on due post after transfer other provinces? Are petitioners eligible for promotion and are they working as regular basis at parent departments?

Are the petitioners belong to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and their merger concluded as per law? Is their transfer and merger made in their cadre? Is SCP judgement applicable for petitioners or not? The divisional of PHC comprised of Justice Musrt Hilali and Justice Shakeel Ahmad forwarded the case PSB for promotion with abovementioned questions for braining storming whiled ordered to settle the issue immediately.
