LAHORE: The protest of the religious group continuous for the second day on Sunday in the provincial of Punjab. Security forces arrested several protestors for blocking the roads and setting vehicles on fire.
The protestors occupied the main roads of the city including Shahdara Chowk, Mall Road and Faisal Chowk since yesterday. The commuters were facing difficult time because of road blocks in various parts of the city.
Earlier on Saturday, protests took an ugly turn when demonstrators blocked Mall Road and other areas and set a vehicle on fire at Shahdara Chowk.
Lahore police had to resort to tear gas shelling to disperse the protesters. Further contingents of Rangers were also summoned to the site of protests. Metro bus services were suspended and several protesters have been detained.
Metro Bus Service in Multan and Rawalpindi is also not functional.
Train services either remained suspended or face delay for the second day after enraged protesters blocked railway tracks on Saturday.
