Protesters all set to march to capital against Naqeeb,s killing

PESHAWAR: Lawyers, civil society members, political activists of various parties and students on Monday protested against the killing of a youth from tribal region by police in fake encounter in Karachi.

However, the protesting camp set up at Phase III Hayatabad a residential area in provincial city enters into third consecutive day against the extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud by police officer Rao Anwar in Karachi and asked the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Sindh government and other concerned quarters to apprehend the murderers of him.

The protesting camp led by Dr Syed Alam Mehsud, a social activist was accompanied by lawyer Abdul Kareem Mehsud and other protestors carrying banners and placards with message calling for prompt arrest of police officials for killing Naqeebullah Mehsud in Karachi. After the killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud, the culpable policemen have not been taken into custody which raises questions over performance of government institutions, they added.

It is a kind of preparation ahead of protest scheduled to be held on February 1st at Islamabad for seeking justice in brutal killing of tribesman. They asked people to wholeheartedly take part in Islamabad protest to develop pressure on relevant authorities to instantly apprehended the alleged policemen.

It is to be mentioned here that the protesting sit-in of Mehsud,s tribe is underway in Karachi for the last few days to compel the provincial government to take pragmatic steps for the arrest of Naqeeb,s killers in fake encounter.

As a high-powered committee has also been constituted by chief of Sindh police and beside, Supreme Court of Pakistan has also taken suo motto notice over the matter.
