ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtiar has underlined that the present Government was committed to give due share of Net Hydel Profit (NHP) to the provinces.
The Minister, in his capacity as Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, was chairing a meeting of the Main Committee constituted by Council of Common Interest (CCI) to deliberate upon the issue of Net Hydel Profits here on Wednesday.
Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Secretary KP, Secretaries of Planning, Water Resources, Power Division and IPC, Member Energy and senior officials from relevant ministries were also present in the meeting.
The meeting discussed the report of Technical Sub-Committee (TSC) which had been constituted under the Chairmanship of Secretary Power Division to ponder over the issue of determination of rates/net profits.
The meeting also deliberated upon the point of view of all key stakeholders in the matter.
The Minister expressed optimism to resolve all outstanding issues regarding determination of NHP which is required to be paid to the province where a hydel power station is located as per provision of the Constitution under Article 161 (2).
It was decided to hold another meeting in a week’s time to further deliberate on the matter in detail and work out the solution in the light of decision of the CCI.
