PSL 2020: Multan Sultans thrash Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets

MULTAN (Monitoring Desk): Veteran pacer Sohail Tanvir turned back the clock on Wednesday as his four-wicket haul helped Multan Sultans upset Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets in what was the first-ever match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Tanvir, 35, once one of the hottest T20 bowlers in the world, got the prized wicket of dangerman Kamran Akmal and also of the talented Haider Ali before returning to claim two more scalps from zalmis lower order.

While he impressed, so did his fellow veteran left-armed Mohammad Irfan and the young Mohammad Ilyas, both of whom picked up two wickets each as Zalmi were bundled out for a paltry 123 — the lowest score of PSL 2020 so far.

The Sultans should have cruised to the target but they made matters difficult for themselves and were reeling at 33-3 at one point. The home side, however, were stablised by Rilee Rossouw and Khushdil Shah, who saw their side home.
