PSL 9: Quetta Gladiators beat Islamabad United by three wickets

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Rilee Rossouw scored gutsy 34 runs after a combined bowling effort to guide Quetta Gladiators to a narrow three-wicket victory over Islamabad United in the eighth match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore Thursday.

Earlier, a disciplined bowling performance led Quetta Gladiators to restrict Islamabad United to a modest total of 138/9.

Put into bat first, the strong batting unit of the United could yield 138/9 in the allotted 20 overs.

Islamabad United got off to a flier but then after 10 overs, they stuttered and their progress was beset by frequent loss of wickets. A couple of superb overs at death led by Muhammad Wasim prevented them from getting 150.

Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed was pick of the bowler as he took three key wickets in the middle overs for just 18 runs in his allotted four overs. Wasim finished with 3-20 while AKeal Hossein took two wickets for 32 runs.

M Hasnanin got one wicket that too of United’s captain Shadab Khan by conceding 35 runs while M Amir remained wicketless and conceded 30 runs in his four hours.

For United Aga Salman top scored with 33 runs off 23 balls followed by 21 runs from Alex Hales while Faheem Ashraf and Collin Munro made 20 runs each.
