PSX gains 291.37 points, closing at 41,730 points

ISLAMABAD: KSE 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday witnessed bullish trend, gaining 291.37 points, a positive change of 0.70 percent, closing at 41,730.16 points against 41,438.79 points on the last working day.
A total of 162,179,047 shares were traded during the day compared to the trade of 141,705,193 shares the previous day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs4.780 billion against Rs4.763 billion on last trading day.
As many as 353 companies transacted shares in the stock market,180 of them recorded gain and 140 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 33 companies remained unchanged.
The three top trading companies were WorkdCall Telecom with a volume of 21,553,500 shares and price per share of Rs1.42, Oilboy Energy with volume of 11,396,500 and price per share of Rs2.01 and Maple Leaf with volume of 10,230,095 and price per share of Rs27.73.
Nestle Pakistan witnessed a maximum increase of Rs104.90 per share, closing at Rs5,880 whereas the runner up was Rafhan Maize, the share prices of which climbed up by Rs695 to Rs10,495.
Colgate Palm witnessed maximum decrease of Rs47 per share closing at Rs2,153 followed by was Sapphire Tex, the share price of which declined by Rs43.61 to close at Rs.1,106.38.
Rupee sheds Rs1.22 against dollar: Exchange rate of Pak Rupee weakened by Rs1.22 against the US Dollar in the interbank trading on Thursday and closed at Rs207.67 against the previous day’s closing of Rs206.45.
According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of dollar in the open market were recorded at Rs206.5 and Rs208.5 respectively.
The price of Euro was depreciated by 51 paisas and closed at Rs215.98 against the previous day’s closing of Rs216.49.
Meanwhile, Japanese Yen gained two paisas to close at Rs1.55, whereas an increase of Rs2.11 was witnessed in the exchange rate of British Pound, which was traded at Rs251.52 as compared to its last closing of Rs249.41.
The exchange rates of Emirates Dirham and Saudi Riyal increased by 33 paisas to close at Rs56.53 and Rs55.34 respectively.
