PSX loses 284 points to close at 45,533 points

ISLAMABAD: The KSE 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed bearish trend on Wednesday, losing 284.38 points, with negative change of 0.62 percent, closing at 45,533.30 points against 45,817.68 points on the last working day.
A total of 223,822,755 shares, valuing Rs5.583 billion, were traded during the day compared to the trade of 210,202,385 shares worth Rs6.226 billion the previous day.
As many as 331 companies transacted shares in the stock market, 116 of them recorded gain and 186 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 29 companies remained unchanged.
The three top trading companies were Cnergyco Pk with a volume of 63,683,022 and price per share of Rs6.79, Pak Refinery with a volume of 26,165,000 and price per share of Rs17.17 and G3 Technologies with volume of 11,275,500 and price per share of Rs11.69.
Bhanero Tex witnessed a maximum increase of Rs67.89 per share, closing at Rs1,537.89 whereas the runner up was Sapphire Tex, the share prices of which climbed up by Rs45.15 to Rs1,185.
Nestle Pakistan witnessed maximum decrease of Rs49.98, closing at Rs5,800.01 followed by Shield Corp, the share price of which declined by Rs16.84 to close at Rs266.50.
Rupee strengthens against dollar: Exchange rate of Pak Rupee strengthened by 17 paisas against the US Dollar in the interbank trading on Wednesday and closed at Rs185.45 against the previous day’s closing of Rs185.62.
According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of dollar in the open market were recorded at Rs185 and Rs187 respectively.
The price of Euro also depreciated by Rs1.57 and closed at Rs196.78 against the previous day’s closing of Rs198.35.
The Japanese Yen remained unchanged to close at Rs1.45, whereas a decrease of Rs3.29 was witnessed in the exchange rate of British Pound, which was traded at Rs232.89 as compared to its last closing of Rs236.18.
The exchange rates of Emirates Dirham and Saudi Riyal decreased by 04 paisas to close at Rs50.49 and Rs49.44 respectively.
Gold prices decrease by Rs150 to Rs132,000 per tola: The price of 24 karat per tola gold decreased by Rs150 and was sold at Rs132,000 on Wednesday against its sale at Rs132,150 in the local market the previous day.
The price of 10 gram 24 karat gold decreased by Rs128 to Rs113,169 from Rs113,297 while that of 10 gram 22 karat also went down to Rs103,738 from Rs103,855, All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.
The price of per tola and ten gram silver remained unchanged at Rs1510 and Rs1294.58 respectively.
The price of gold in international market decreased by $9 and was traded at $1895 compared to its sale at $1904, the association reported.
