PSX turns around, gains 35 points

ISLAMABAD (APP): The KSE 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) turned around on Thursday and witnessed bullish trend, gaining 35.29 points, with a slight positive change of 0.08 percent, closing at 42,898.44 points against 42,863.15 points on the last working day.
A total of 284,503,575 shares were traded during the day compared to the trade of 338,542,010 shares the previous day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs7.800 billion against Rs9.531 billion on last trading day.
As many as 336 companies transacted shares in the stock market; 180 of them recorded gain and 137 sustained losses, whereas the share price of 19 companies remained unchanged.
The three top trading companies were Treet Corp with a volume of 27,626,500 shares and price per share of Rs31.45, TPL Properties with volume of 18,899,871 and price per share of Rs17.21 and Telecard Limited with volume of 16,855,000 and price per share of Rs11.17.
Gatron Ind. witnessed a maximum increase of Rs27.53 per share, closing at Rs410.33 whereas the runner up was Highnoon (Lab) XB, the share prices of which climbed up by Rs20.01 to Rs550.59.
Nestle Pakistan witnessed maximum decrease of Rs134.16 closing at Rs5,615.84 followed by Sapphire Tex, the share price of which declined by Rs50.12 to close at Rs1,150.
Rupee sheds Rs1.37 against dollar: Exchange rate of Pak Rupee weakened by Rs1.74 against the US Dollar in the interbank trading on Thursday and closed at Rs191.76 against the previous day’s closing of Rs190.02.
According to the Forex Association of Pakistan, the buying and selling rates of dollar in the open market were recorded at Rs191 and Rs193 respectively.
The price of Euro was depreciated by 38 paisas and closed at Rs200.43 against the previous day’s closing of Rs200.81.
The Japanese Yen gained two paisas to close at Rs1.48, whereas a decrease of Rs1.01 was witnessed in the exchange rate of British Pound, which was traded at Rs233.85 as compared to its last closing of Rs234.86.
The exchange rates of Emirates Dirham and Saudi Riyal increased by 48 paisas to close at Rs52.20 and Rs51.12 respectively.
Gold prices increase by Rs300, reaching historic high to Rs136,000 per tola: The price of 24 karat per tola gold witnessed an increase of Rs300 and was sold at all time high at Rs136,000 on Thursday against its sale at Rs135,700 in the local market.
The price of 10 gram 24 karat gold also increased by Rs257 and was sold at Rs116,598 compared to its sale at Rs116,341 whereas that of 22 karat gold also went up to Rs106,882 against Rs106,646, All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.
The price of per tola silver increased by Rs60 and was sold at Rs1560 against its sale at Rs1500 whereas that of ten gram silver increased by Rs51.44 and was sold at Rs1337.44 against its sale at Rs1286.
The price of gold in international market decreased by $6 and was traded at $1846 compared to its sale at $1852, the association reported.
