PTI Chief Imran fumes as police enter his house in Zaman Park

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Personnel of Lahore police entered the house of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Zaman Park by breaking the main door on Saturday inviting condemnation from the former prime minister who was heading to Islamabad.

As PTI Chairman Imran Khan proceeded to attend court hearing in Islamabad, the police in Lahore moved in to cash on the opportunity by blocking roads leading to Zaman Park with containers and uprooting camps set up on Canal Road and arresting party workers present outside ex-prime minister’s housel. They lathi-charged the PTI workers present there and later arrested them.

During the clashes with PTI workers at Zaman Park, several cops were again injured after the activists again threw petrol bombs on them.

During their search of the house, the police officials recovered 16 rifles, bullet shells, sting-shots and ball bearings from inside the residence.

Several wanted accused present inside the house managed to escape from the backside of the residence.

A heavy police contingent entered Zaman Park supported by anti-encroachment officials and launched a “clean-up” operation outside PTI chief’s residence. With the help of machinery, PTI’s camps were demolished in no time.

The routes from Mall Road to Zaman Park and Dharampura to Zaman Park were blocked on Saturday by installing containers while a heavy police contingent was also deployed at Mall Road’s Canal Bridge and Dharampura Canal Bridge. As a result, commuters are bearing the brunt of roadblocks.

The warrant to search Imran Khan’s house in Zaman Park was issued by anto-terrorism court yesterday. The court also directed authorities to take a lady inspector with them.

Punjab Caretaker Information Minister Amir Mir said the police action was taken to eliminate no-go areas in Zaman Park.

Imran Khan has condemned the police action in Zaman Park.

In a tweet, he said “Punjab police have led an assault on my house in Zaman Park where Bushra Begum is alone.”

He further said “Under what law are they doing this? This is part of London Plan where commitments were made to bring absconder Nawaz Sharif to power as quid pro quo for agreeing to one appointment.”
