PTI Government come up with EVM, in a Bid to bring reforms by own way

ISLAMABAD: PTI government has presented a preliminary model of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) at Parliament House on Wednesday in a bid to bring Electoral Reforms in its own way.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain, flanked by SAPM on Parliamentry Affairs Dr. Babar Awan and Chairman Senate Standing on Information Faisal Javed showcased the EVM and informed the media men about it’s merits and benefits during during election.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad said the thirty-six requirements of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) have been fulfilled in this model of Electronic Votting Machine (EVM). Fawad claimed that, this model of EVM would be capable of generating quick election results, and the contesting candidates will have no logic/ reason to level allegations of rigging.

Fawad called on the opposition parties, including PPP, PML-N and others to witness the operations of the machine placed at the Parliament House for examination of the parliamentarians so they can suggest improvements or otherwise.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said that EVM will also be placed for observation of bar members to seek their suggestions/ in put on it after witnessing it’s working.

SAPM on Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Babar Awan said that there are five EVM’s models available to the government, two out of them have been manufactured in the country, however, the ECP will finalize the model of the machine for use in the country’s future Elections. According to Awan, the government has empowered the ECP to use EVMs in elections and give right of vote to the overseas Pakistanis. Awan claimed that Electoral reforms are the part of PT1’s overall manifesto and it is heading to implement all these reforms in forthcoming Elections.
