PTI-led Punjab govt slips on rain in Lahore
LAHORE: Downpour in Lahore has exposed inability of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Punjab government as city submerged into the rainwater and sewerage. As per details garnered, as much as 60 feeders have tripped causing power cuts at scattered areas in the city. Thus far, the city remains inundated as rainwater mixed with sewage and garbage continues to float on streets and thoroughfares.
On the other hand, life-crippling traffic jams were being witnessed on Ferozepur Road, Mall road, Davis road and other busy thoroughfares. In Lahore, the maximum rainfall was recorded as 53mm while several areas including Samnabad, Bhati Gate and Gulshan Ravi have been flooded with rain water as the local administration failed to take any appropriate preventive measures. According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain-thundershower with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Malakand, Hazara, Mirpurkhas, Karachi, Hyderabad divisions, Islamabad, FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
