ISLAMABAD: Spokesperson of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday has confirmed that the party has nominated its senior leader Arif Alvi for the president slot and the presidential elections would be held on September 4.
In the recently held general election, PTI’s Dr Arif Aliv has bagged victory from NA-247 constituency of Karachi by securing 90,907 votes. He also took oath as the lawmaker for the National Assembly during the inaugural session held on Aug 13.
If the PTI elects Alvi as successor to President Mamnoon Hussain, he will have to resign from the Lower House of the Parliament.
The incumbent Mamnoon Hussain will relinquish his post on September 9th. He was appointed as the state-head five years back by then ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz.
