PTI workers demand accountability of party ex-lawmaker in Dir

F.P. Report

LOWER DIR: The Pakistan Tehreek Insaf Maidan chapter on Saturday demanded of the party chief Imran Khan and provincial president Pervez Khattak to take the party former lawmaker MPA Liaqat Ali into account for their wrong doings. The demand was made during a workers’ convention held at Kumbar which was attended by hundreds of party workers from all parts of Maidan.

The convention was addressed by former MNA Bashir Khan, former district councilor Abdullah Shah, Dr Saleem, Asadullah Durani, Abdul Wahab Bukhari and others.

The PTI Maidan leadership expressed solidarity with the party chief Imran Khan and announced to send hundreds of workers to Zaman Park Lahore for safeguarding him. The workers alleged the PTI MPA Liaqat Ali recruited 30 of his relatives in different government departments and ignored the party workers who had M.Phil and Ph. D degrees. They said the former lawmaker always misbehaved with party workers. They said the party workers would be free to decide if the leadership awarded the ticket again to the former lawmaker. The speakers said that militants had attacked the former MPA Liaqat Ali vehicle during which he was injured.

They said the militants had also attacked the house of former district councilor Malik Abdullah Shah after which he migrated to Peshawar. The speakers said that other party workers including Shuiab Khan were also targeted by militants. They said the former lawmaker was now cashing the attack on his vehicle and portrayed that he had rendered great sacrifices for the party. They demanded proper accountability with the former MPA. The former MNA Bashir Khan presented himself for accountability and said the party should award tickets for the next general elections on merit and workers’ consent should be honoured. He said that he would refuse the party ticket if workers were not happy with it.

PDM demand: The Lower Dir chapter of the Pakistan Democratic Movement on Saturday demanded ‘first accountability, then polls. The PDM leaders including district chief of the JUI-F Sirajud Din, provincial leader Qazi Ayazud Din, PPP’s former provincial minister Mahmood Zeb, ANP’s general secretary Malik Muhammad Zeb, PML-N district president Malik Farooq Iqbal and others while speaking at a news conference at Timergara said that Imran Khan and his party were responsible for the whole mess and political instability in the country.

The PDM leaders said the National Accountability Bureau should first initiate investigations into the corruption made by the PTI leadership before the general elections. They alleged the PTI chief Imran Khan had been defaming national institutions under a planned conspiracy. They said the PDM would not let succeed the nefarious designs of Imran Khan against the Pakistan army and other state institutions. They said the PTI was working on a foreign agenda and the nation would reject it once elections were held. They said the PDM did not run away from the elections but it was not a suitable time as the country faced many challenges.

The PDM leaders said that Imran Khan was struggling to create division in the Pakistan army and judiciary. They said the PTI chief was hiding in its Zaman Park house and was not ready to be arrested. He said the political leadership like Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali zardari, Maryam Nawaz etc happily spent time in jails but Imran Khan had been skipping arrest.
