PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) rejected writ petition seeking quashment of First Information Report against 81 Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) activists including former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser and Pronvincial Minister Shehram Khan Tarakai, on Friday.
PHC’s divisional bench comprising of Justice SM Attique Shah and Justice Fazal Subhan heard PTI’s workers named Asad Qaiser, Shehram Khan Tarakai, Member Provincial Assembly Rangeez Khan and Member National Assembly Aqib Ullah along with 77 other activists seeking quashment of FIR registered at Chota Lahore police station.
The counsel argued that petitioners were nominated for vandalism at Motorway on 9th May following arrest of PTI’s chairman Imran Khan over corruption charges as well as for looting precious equipment from the possession. He added that cases are initiated for political victimization while requested for quashment of FIR against the petitioners.
However, Additional Advocate General Danyal Asad Chamkani argued that petitioners had burned motorway toll plaza and looted precious equipment from the installation while its video is available on record. Supreme Court had declared that FIR cant be quashed until failure in submission of evidences while in the current petition evidences are available against the applicants, Additional Advocate General argued.
Additional Advocate General further added that the petitioners had obtained bails in several cases while argued that the applicant cannot be entitled for quashment of FIR. PHC rejected PTI’s 81 activists writ seeking quashment of FIR after conclusion of arguments.
