Public Accounts Committee writes DG FIA to dedicate officials for PAC

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The Sub-committee of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday directed the secretariat to write a letter to Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to send well prepared officials in the meeting and place them on permanent basis.

Convener Ayaz Sadiq expressed displeasure on ill-preparedness of FIA staff on different inquiries referred to them.

“Every time new staff is sent in the committee who do not have any idea about the matters discussed here,” remarked Ayaz Sadiq.

He said the FIA representatives should be sent here on permanent basis so that they could assist the committee when required.

Discussing the audit report of 2005-06 about OGDCL, the convener observed that no recovery was made despite lapse of 10 years.

He said FIA did not feel necessary to investigate the matter despite the matter was 10 years old, adding NAB should be directed to investigate FIA and their performance.

Ayaz Sadiq remarked that the officials of NAB and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) were not taking PAC seriously.

He also reprimanded officials of Interstate gas system while saying that the speaker of Russian parliament complaint that Inter State Gas System (ISGS) was not cooperating in pipeline agreement.

He said ISGS was an obstacle in implementing the agreement with Russia as they keep raising issues one after the other.

MNA Riaz Fatyana remarked that pointing out issues one after other destroyed the trade relations with other countries.

Convener Ayaz Sadiq referred the matter to the audit officials with directions to sort out all the pending issues in one-month time period.
