LAHORE: The Education Department in Punjab has decided to implement the Single National Curriculum (SNC) from next academic year, while private schools will be required to use SNC-aligned textbooks from the 1st to 8th standard, on Monday.
The sixth to eighth grade curricula have also been revised, and there will now be a single curriculum for public and private schools, according to the Education Department.
Going forward, the education department has also ordered to publish the Single National Curriculum up to the 8th standard and the new books will be available in the market before April 1, 2023.
The institutions desire to use books other than SNC, they have to first obtain permission from the Punjab Text Book Board. Schools that deviate from SNC would face severe penalties. They will be fined from 25,000 to 500,000 for violating rules and regulations.
The education department is also planning to launch syllabus for 9th and 10th grade under SNC and its syllabus will be published before 1st April 2024.
