Punjab governor briefs PM Imran on clean water project

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at his office in Islamabad on Saturday.

During the meeting, Chaudhry Sarwar briefed the prime minister on Aab-e-Pak Authority project, a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) flagship project aiming at provision of safe drinking water to the whole of population in the province.

The governor apprised PM Imran that the Punjab government, under the project, will provide potable water to 20 million people by June this year.

The government, after consultation with the lawmakers, is installing water filter plants across the province to facilitate the masses, he added.

Last year on April 28, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar had said water filtration and purification plants will be installed across the province under Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority (PAPA).

Sarwar, who had been named patron-in-chief of the authority, had vowed to run water schemes which were lying non-functional within a few months.

The governor had said as many as five million houses will have access to potable water by December. He had said all commissioners in the province had been directed to submit reports on water schemes.

Food crises: PM directs strict action against hoarders

LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan directed Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to take strict action against hoarders involved in artificial crisis of food items.

According to details, Prime Minister Imran Khan held an important meeting with CM Punjab and directed him to expedite operation against hoarders and adulteration mafia.

On this occasion PM Imran Khan said that he approved an Rs15 billion relief package to provide relief to the masses as availability of everyday commodities at reasonable prices to the poor is among government’s top priorities.

PM launched global portal of ‘Police Khidmat Markaz’ during his visit to Safe City office and said that portal will facilitate overseas Pakistanis. Launch of global portal is a praiseworthy step by the police, he added.

PM further said that overseas Pakistani’s would hesitate to invest in Pakistan unless government provides safe environment. He added that economic growth is linked with improvement in law and order situation and wealth creation.

According to sources, the premier was also briefed on the scope of safe city project during his visit to the Punjab Safe City Authority headquarters and about making security effective through the project.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, and several members of the provincial assembly were also present on the occasion.
