Punjab law minister brief PM on legislation

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat Tuesday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and apprised him of the contemporary legal subjects.

The provincial minister apprised the prime minister of amendments made in the old laws to bring them in conformity with the contemporary requirements, the PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.

The prime minister directed for making the Punjab Cooperative Department functional through which the financial support to the farmers would be extended.

Raja Basharat further informed the prime minister about the recent proposed amendments in the Guzara Act 1928 (related to forests), under which financial assistance would be provided for protection of forests.

He also briefed the prime minister about the steps taken to retrieve the state lands from the illegal occupants.

Interior minister updates PM on meeting with Hazara community:Interior Minister Shekh Rashid Ahmed called on Prime Minister Imran Khan here on Tuesday and updated him about his meeting with the protesting Hazara community in Quetta.

On the directives of the Prime Minister, Sheikh Rashid had visited Quetta and held meeting with the representatives of Hazara community regarding the incident of killing of miners in Mach area of Balochistan.

Political situation in the country also came under discussion during the meeting, the PM Office said.

PM lauds Law Ministry on disposing of 100 cases per day: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday lauded the Ministry of Law and Justice for disposing of the pending cases at an average of 100 per day. He expressed these views in a meeting with Law Minister Barrister Farogh Naseem, and Adviser on Interior and Accountability Shahzad Akbar.

The prime minister was given an update about the disposal of court cases on priority. Barrister Farogh Naseem, while briefing the prime minister about the performance of his ministry, mentioned that 99.5 percent cases had been disposed of so far.

The meeting discussed important legal and constitutional matters, and the strategy to deal with them.
