Pushtoon Qaumi Jirga lauds Afghan peace talks, calls for halting foreign interferences

PESHAWAR: The ANP sponsored daylong Pushtoon Qaumi Jirga (PQJ) Tuesday here while appreciating the initiation of the Afghan peace talks, called for halting foreign interferences in the internal affairs of Afghanistan and let the Afghan be allowed to settle their problems and disputes.

A joint communiqué released after the jirga, maintained that despite operations, the terrorist outfits were regrouping in the region and the Jirga demanded solid efforts to stop this process before it is too late. Peaceful Afghanistan could only guarantee peace in Pakistan.

The government should initiated indiscriminate legal actions against all the private Militia network.

It further called for payment to the tribal people affected due to military operations from Bajaur to Waziristan. It also demanded of the government to produce the missing persons in the court of law. The jirga expressed concern over non-clearance of areas from landmines in merged areas.

The participants of the jirga demanded full implementation of 25th amendments for smooth enforcement of the administrative, legal and political reforms the erstwhile Fata besides implementing the 18th amend in toto.

The jirga also expressed concern over delay in formulation of new NFC award. The provinces should be allowed to have their rights over the water resources. The local population should be given rights over the resources generated in their areas.

Talking to media-men after the jirga, President of ANP called for inking a new civil contract by taking all the stakeholders into confidence for the betterment of the society. He said tha today’s jirga mainly focused on issues facing the Pushtoon nation and it had no political connotation.  He said that unless the mistrust existed between the Pakistan and Afghanistan were removed the region would remain in danger.

The jirga was attended by Amir JI Sirajiul Haq, JUI leader Akram Khan Durrani, PPP KP President Engr Humayun Khan, PMLN leader Engr Amir Muqam, Provincial President PkMP Mukhtiar Khan Yusafzai, Senator Usman Kakar, Central leader of JUIS Hamidul Haq, Shahjee Gul Afridi of BAP, Hashim Babar of QWP, Mukhtiar Bacha of National Party, PTI MNA Arbab Sher Ali Khan and leader of PTM Manzoor Pushtoon.
