Qadri asks religious scholars to spread message of peace

ISLAMABAD: Minister of Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haq Qadri Thursday advised the religious scholars from different schools of thought to spread message of love, peace, harmony, brotherhood and tolerance among the masses.

Addressing a certificate distribution ceremony among the clerics (Imams) at Dawah Academy, he asked the clerics to use pulpit to convey the message of brotherhood, harmony, unity and tolerance in the society and avoid spreading hatred among the Muslims.

About 22 Imams from various parts of the country including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan had participated in the two-month long course at the Dawah Academy.

The minister expressed the hope that clerics completing the course here would utilize their experience to highlight the true spirit of the Islam and help unite the Ummah.

He also asked the Imams to use pulpit to teach the people to abide by the laws of the country, follow traffic rules, plant trees, and protect environment and human rights.

Noor-ul-Haq Qadri also advised the Ulema to avoid labeling people from other schools of thought as infidel. This practice must be stopped as it will fan hate among the Ummah” he added.      

The minister also advised the Ulema and religious scholars to take care of others’ emotions and feelings while delivering the summons.

“We should not hurt their emotions and feelings, it is the true teaching of Islam” he added.

He also advised the participants to study books and literature of all schools of thoughts for better understanding of their point of views.   

The minister also asked the organizers of the course to include topic on National Security and interaction of civil and military bureaucracy with the clerics.

Noor-ul-Qadri noted that there was no harm for Ulema to participate in country’s politics but religion should not be used to bring bad impression and name to it.

He said that negotiations were underway with Egypt, Turkey and Morocco for sending Pakistani Ulema for different courses and training.         

The minister also distributed certificates among the participants of the course.
