TIMERGARA: Federal minister for religious affairs Maulana Noor ul Haq Qadri on Sunday while defending the resolution regarding public hanging of child abusers said that the law was according to Quran and Sunnah. Talking to local journalists at Bakandai after condoling the death of brother and sister of prominent religious clerics Syed Ghulam Muhammad Qadri alias Peer of Bakandai the federal minister also criticized the other federal ministers Faroogh Naseem and Fawad Chudhry for their remarks against the resolution. He said both the ministers were not aware of Quran and Sunnah and that was why they had passed negative remarks.
Maulana Noor ul Haq said that public hanging in certain cases was not against Islam and sharia. He said the punishment had been in practice in several Islamic countries. He said the crime rate was remarkably low in countries where public hanging and beheading was practiced.
The minister said that Hajj expenses were increased due to devaluation of Pakistani currency and increase in taxes in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He said that hotel fares and utility bills in KSA had also been increased.
Responding to a question the federal minister said that due to financial crises the federal government had not paid the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa net hydel profit. He said the issues of provinces would be resolved once the crises were over. He said it would take time to solve problems faced by people of merged tribal districts.
The Maulana said the Prime Minister Imran Khan had taken serious notice of the current hike and inflation and directed his economical team to bring down prices of essential commodities. He said that important decisions regarding price hike would be made during the next cabinet meeting. Meanwhile a delegation of the University of Malakand led by chairman Islamiat department Prof Dr Atta ur Rehman met the federal minister and sought his help in building a mosque at the varsity. The federal minister ensured the delegation of financial assistance for the mosque.
