Qandeel murder case: Mufti Qavi appears before court

F.P. Report

MULTAN: Mufti Abdul Qavi appeared before a court in Qandeel Baloch’s murder case on Tuesday; however the court asked him to appear with the counsel as he appeared in the court without his legal counsel.

Muftir Abdul Qavi appeared before Sessions Judge Chaudhry Ameer Muhammed in Qandeel Baloch murder as he is also one of the accused in the case.

While talking to local journalist outside the court, Qavi said that he appeared before the court as per the orders and will continue to cooperate with the police and courts in the case.

Other accused in the case, Haq Nawaz and Qandeel’s brother Muhammed Waseem were expected to be presented before the judge today.

The court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Mufti Qavi on request of the investigation officer who informed the court that the cleric was not cooperating with the police.

Baloch, who shot to fame for her provocative selfies that polarized Pakistan, was allegedly strangled in July by her brother Muhammad Waseem.

In his confession Waseem claimed she had brought shame on the family and owned up to his crime in a press conference after his arrest.

Before her death, Qandeel Baloch demanded from the interior ministry to provide protection to her as some people were threatening her.
