ISLAMABAD (INP): Qatar Foreign Minister Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdul Rehman Al-Sani along with delegation has met with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and apprised him rift with Saudi Arabia and its demands.
Qatar FM has also informed the PM regarding the Saudi Arabia, UAE and Bahrain demands and Qatar reply in this connection. He also apprised him regarding the mediation efforts made by the Emir Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber.
Talking on the occasion PM Nawaz Sharif told him that Pakistan has grave concerns over the Gulf situation. The advisor to PM for foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz was also present on the occasion.
The Qatar’s Foreign Minister and delegation will also hold meetings with Advisor to PM on Foreign Affair Sartaj Aziz and other high ups. During the meeting, Pak-Qatar relations, Gulf tension and international issues will come under consideration.
Sources said that bilateral ties especially measures to enhance cooperation between the two countries in different fields and trade ties will also be discussed. His visit comes weeks after after Middle Eastern countries, i.e. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen, Libya and the United Arab Emirates cut diplomatic ties last month with the country, accusing it of ‘supporting terrorism’.
It is to be mentioned here that Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members led by Saudi Arabia have cut diplomatic ties with Qatar accusing it of sponsoring terrorism and siding with arch regional rival Iran.
